week 10 – Ephesians 6 – “FEARLESS”

This week we’re talking about Ephesians 6.

Ephesians 6 is where the famous passage about The Armor of God is.

Love it. One of my fav’s. Incredible.

But we need spend a little bit of time here to really get it. In fact, we could spend weeks on this chapter alone… which is why we’ll make a whole course on it really.

First of all, Paul continues last weeks theme of imitating God, but relating it to Children & parents… crucial specification.

Then he relates it to anyone in any sort of employer or employee role…originally written to slaves & masters, but relatable to us for work & business, levels of authority, etc.

Then…. The Armor of God!

He reminds us that “our battles not against flesh & blood”, but it’s a spiritual battle.

It’s a very real one, but it’s not against people. It’s against the enemy.

So we need to stop fighting people, and start being prepared to fight spiritually, and with spiritual weapons.

  1. The Belt of Truth
  2. The Breastplate of Righteousness
  3. The Shoes of Readiness (that comes from the peace we get from the Gospel)
  4. The Shield of Faith
  5. The Helmet of Salvation
  6. The Sword of the Spirit
  7. And then PRAYER!!!

Then there’s verses 19 & 20…

EPHESIANS 6:19-20

“Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will FEARLESSLY make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it FEARLESSLY, as I should.”

The point of all this is that there is a spiritual battle in this life that we need to be spiritually prepared for, so that we can be PREPARED, READY, & FEARLESS.

Let’s spend some time studying this chapter together this week!

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF
  1. What piece of the Armor of God do I understand pretty well?

  2. What piece of the Armor of God do I really not understand very well?

  3. Where in my life do I experience the most fear/worry/anxiety?

  4. What pieces of God’s armor would equip me in this area?
SCRIPTURE

Ephesians 6

WEEKLY FOCUS

This week, read through Ephesians 6 as many times as you want to.

Think about the Armor of God & being fearless.

Ask God if there are any areas in your life that need some reshaping in order to truly walk FEARLESSLY.

Let this theme guide your God time all week, and even your thoughts and conversation with Him through out your days, all week long.

Let Him speak to you about this idea of being FEARLESS & equipped with these pieces of Armor, and see what He says.

We’d love to hear your feedback/thoughts/questions, so hop into the Bible Studies conversation thread in SLACK & we’re excited to see what the Lord speaks to you this week.

BLESSINGS!
