week 17 – Colossians 1 – “Everything We Need In Jesus”
This week we’re talking about Colossians 1.
The book of Colossians is another letter written by Paul when he was in prison in Rome.
What makes this letter a little bit different is that Paul never went to the church in Colassae (in modern day Turkey).
But Epaphras (chapter 1 verse 7) was from there and needed Pauls help in countering a bunch of issues facing the church people as far as belief systems go.
A major theme he uses is that of how Jesus actually IS God, He’s the HEAD of the Church, and therefor everything you need can be found in Him.
As opposed to a lot of their beliefs of looking all sorts of other places for salvation, hope, etc.
Jesus is our redemption & forgiveness of sins (1:14)
There’s a lot we can take from this book/letter and chapter.
To live worthy of our calling & to bear fruit (1:10).
To pray for churches and people (1:3).
To present the Gospel fully to people (1:25).
And so much more.
