week 26 – REVELATION 2 (PART 6) – THE CHURCH IN PHILADELPHIA
This week we’re talking about ENDURING WITH NO STRENGTH.
The Church in PHILADELPHIA gets a totally different message.
Jesus is SO pleased with them because they have kept His Word, even though they are weak.
They haven’t denied Him, they have endured patiently, and He wants to reward them.
He is encouraging them to stay steadfast and to hold on to what they have in Christ, that no one takes their crown.
Essentially, stay true to Him no matter what, overcome in that way, in you will be richly rewarded.
God LOVES faithfulness. He loves it so much that He says He is opening doors for them that NO ONE can shit, no matter what.
No physical or spiritual being can shut the doors that Jesus is opening for you. Just make sure that you are living faithful like these people were.
He loves it when we consider eternity with Him as more important than fitting in here, or avoiding discomfort or suffering here.
He loves it when we love Him so much that we are willing to suffer for Him instead of ditching Him to save our own skin.
He loves it when we have true eternal perspective, that our souls matter more than just these temporary bodies, so we hold fast to Him no matter what.
He loves it when we overcome the world by clinging to Him because He overcame the world for us & paved the way for us to join Him.
Let this be an encouragement to you to stay true to Jesus like a faithful Bride is to her loving husband.
No matter how weak you are, no matter how much strength you may have lost, keep His Word, never deny His name in anything that you do or say, keep His command to endure patiently, and He will richly reward you 🙂
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF
- How would you rate your current spiritual & emotional strength to endure?
- Would you reward your current faithfulness?
- If so, how could you keep that up and keep that pursuit going til the end?
- If not, what needs to change in order to find yourself there again?
- Pray and ask God to show you what doors He might be opening for you, what doors He might be wanting you to walk through?
- Ask Him what it means for you personally to “hold on to what you have so that no one will take your crown.”
