WEEK 01 – Philippians 1

This week we’re talking about Philippians 1.

Paul wrote a letter to the Church in Philippi while he was in Prison in Rome that eventually became this book.

He LOVES them deeply, more than anyone else probably.

They have supported Him more than anyone else. And he wants to build them up and make sure they continue to grow in joy and unity.

Joy no matter what. Suffering is inevitable, but attitude and perspective on eternity with Jesus helps us have joy, peace, and strength through anything.

He displays the kind of diversity yet unity and joy that can be found in the Church community when you build deep relationships and find your common ground in Christ.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF 

(1) Do I have this type of “joy-no-matter-what” mentality and perspective?

(2) Am I experiencing the powerful joy that comes from an eternal perspective?

(3) Am I experiencing the powerful joy that comes from being unified with other believers, no matter how diverse, in the Church community?

(4) What do you think the “fruits of righteousness” (verse 11) are and which ones might be missing in your life?

This week, read through Philippians 1 as many times as you want to.

Think about what it means to have joy no matter what the circumstance.

Ask God if there are any areas in your life that need a touch of His joy.

Let this theme guide your God time all week, and even your thoughts and conversation with Him through out your days, all week long.

Let Him speak to you about this idea of having JOY & UNITY, and see what He says.
