week 27 – REVELATION 2 (PART 7) – THE CHURCH IN LAODICEA
This week we’re talking about REPENTANCE & ADMITTING OUR NEED FOR JESUS.
The Church in LAODICEA is a true wake up call from the Lord.
It’s SO EASy to let things become too important in our lives, so much so that they become idols in our hearts, too important in our eyes, to where they start to take the place of where Jesus should be in our eyes & hearts.
Our eyes and focus are attached to our hearts, values, and worship.
Our focus has so much to do with it.
And we have got to let the Lord remind us here, & keep us on His straight and narrow.
It’s not about money. It’s not about possessions. It’s not about becoming “SECURE”.
those things are a mirage. They’re fake. They’re counterfeit. And they are an illusion.
TRUE security cannot and never will be found in money, possessions, or getting to a place where we “don’t need anything”.
Our TRUE state is that we are DESPERATELY IN NEED, that we are forever NOT secure, and there is nothing we can do to change that outside of depending on Jesus.
Even as a Christian who has put their faith & trust in Jesus, it’s still SUPER important to not let those things creep up now, because we have got to remember that it’s still JESUS who is our cure, JESUS who is the one who we need.
Let’s stay repentant.
Let Him in as He is most assuredly knocking & drawing us deeper.
Come dine with Him.
Buy His gold, let Him refine us, get His white clothes to purify us, get His salve so He can help us see.
And above all, let us remember that we DO need Him for these things in our lives.
We ARE blind without Him, shameful without him, dirty without Him, lost without Him.
Lord, make us hot for you. Come and dine with us and do whatever you want to do in our homes & in our hearts.
Our hearts & lives ARE your home, so have your way Lord.
We love you.

- In what ways might you be lukewarm in your life right now?
- What might you have been leaning on for security lately other than Jesus, like in this passage?
- How could you surrender that thing to truly trust in Him for that security?
- What do the gold, white clothes, & salve mean to you?
